Well D23 Expo is over with. There was a lot to take in. So was it worth the money. Is D23 expo the big event for Disney fans. Let's look at what they shown and told.
Don't Forget Season Pass big event. Episode 100th. Call the hotline at 916.248.5524
Disney world Magic Kingdom is getting a expansion. A big one to Fantasy land. This is strange because I kind talk about the lost potential that Magic Kingdom on the 5th park rumors thread. Well Disney has made a bold to step in what seem to me be a weapon to fight back with Universal Studios Harry Potter land open next year.
Here's video of the announcement.
Here's a quote about the Fantasy Land specs by Reuters.com
Quote:
Plans call for four Disney Princess characters -- Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Belle from "Beauty and the Beast" and Ariel from "The Little Mermaid" -- to be featured in "fantasy lands" where park visitors engage in dancing, storytelling or a birthday party with costumed characters from the films.
The expansion includes two new dining spots -- Gascon's Tavern and the 552-seat Beast's Castle. A new underwater ride based on "The Little Mermaid, will be built both in the Florida Fantasyland and at the ongoing expansion of California Adventure in Disneyland.
The second phase of the Fantasyland expansion will be an oversized world based on the fairy world of Pixie Hollow from "Peter Pan," but no other details were available because the attraction was still in early development stages, Rasulo said.
As part of the Fantasyland expansion, Disney plans to double the size of the popular Dumbo ride to add a covered "three-ring circus" waiting area with interactive games and a play area.

To me I think it's the most awesome gift the Magic Kingdom could get. Also the Dumbo ride will have no waiting area, but interactive games. This is a sign of great things.

Of course the big news for almost every fan in the world was the Star Tour 2 reveal. Only showing the pod race there has been more talk that this is only a short part in what's to be bigger ride trek. Here's the video of the ride.
More of the Magic Kingdom concept art with that cool Dumbo ride with out lines.
I think this event with worth going too. Even if you are not a member of D23 you can still go without a membership.
One thing got me. I surprise nothing for Disneyland was plan. I thought with the new Fantasy land plans that Disneyland would get some love too. I wonder if Capt. EO was suppose to be it. One think I wanted to ask everybody here. Do you think more Star Wars rides should be made. Don't get me wrong I want to get Star Tour 2, but I wonder why their isn't a Jedi ride or Speed bike at Endor ride. I just think after all these years we might see some more rides from the Star Wars Universe come out. Well, I think we all should pitch in and help Doug get a Season Pass both for next year. This event had a lot of Disney podcaster. Inside the Magic, Windows to the Magic, and WDW radio just to name a few. So, if Ricky, Paul, and Lou can go why not Doug. Hope to see all of you for the next D23 Expo.
Check out Orlando Attraction Magazine for all the D23 Expo news. They did a great job with video and tweets to the event.

Naturally, now being a mom, I am super interested in what any theme park is doing to expand their kids sections and that Dumbo ride looks awesome. I'm glad that Magic Kingdom is taking serious steps to make their Fantasyland a destination, not just a conduit from one land to another. Makes me wish I had a daughter to enjoy the new princess theme stuff.
I wonder how much the plans will be pared down once hammer hits the grindstone and they actually get past the conceptual stage.
I don't think they have set any dates but it will probably be the end of the year or early 2010. I will be at the parks next weekend for my birthday and Food & Wine and the halloween party so I will see what I can find out.
