Different opinions fire up a conversation. They give it life and interest and color. Keep that in mind when I say this was an interesting episode. It certainly held my attention.
Someone, anyone PLEASE grab Ryan Harmon by the hand and take him to Magic Mountain or Discovery Kingdom. He's living in a time warp. Ryan, your views on Six Flags as a Gangster's Paradise are so 2002.
Two observations. Ryan is proof Six Flags has a tall hill to climb if they're ever to regain a decent reputation. See kids what happens if you don't take care of business. That bad impression could last forever.
Now the criticism. Inaccurate reporting is a turn-off, even if its based on opinion, and especially on a podcast of the Season Pass' high caliber. You guys are so good, I hold you to a higher standard.
As Six Flags made an impression on Ryan, Ryan made an impression on me. I'll keep his apparent bias in mind the next time I hear him. If Ryan ventures out of his comfort zone to see what's up with Six Flags with his own eyes, I'll respect his views whether they've changed or not. Get that man to West Coast Bash!
This show was definitely a mixed bag of opinions and emotions. Six Flags is a very big subject, especially with the people who work in the Theme Park Industry. I think I made the statement on the show that unfortunately, SFMM has a negative legacy that the park needs to rid itself of. The opinions of Ryan (and even Brent) are still there simply because they have not experienced Six Flags in the last 5 years, nor has Six Flags really reached out beyond the thrill seeker audience yet. As for inaccurate reporting, I think it happens quite a bit on the show because there are so many opinions on the table and opinions are very rarely accurate reporting lol. Personally I believe things tend to be more interesting when people disagree, than to have us all agree. That way we can discuss thoughts and facts on the matter. It also gets the audience to yell at their iPods or computers.
I love the atmosphere that Six Flags is currently creating for their parks and hope our friends (like Ryan and Brent) get the chance to experience it sometime soon. My wish is that conversations like this touch the audience in a way to get them motivated to travel and check out the Magic Mountains and Discovery Kingdoms of the world.
Thanks again Pal for the awesome post and I hope to see you at WCB 2010. Are you planning to attend both SFMM and Knotts? _________________ Doug Barnes

The ongoing Kentucky Kingdom episode isn't winning Six Flags any points either. It just reinforces existing bad impressions, so I'm not the least bit surprised when I hear old attitudes emerge. Six Flags (Premiere?) done burned them some bridges...
Doug, I'm glad you took my post as commentary and not an attack. You're spot on - I sat up and took notice when you guys had your mini-debate. It was good radio... er, podcasting. I'm looking forward to your future shows.
WCB is just Magic Mountain for us this year. I was tempted - two parks, how could that be too much of a good thing? Night ERT is 10-12. That's pretty late, maybe the first sign that at the mid 40s I'm over the hill. This time I insist on saying hello.
