More Universal theme park goodies: Podcasts & Logo.

Universal Creative gets a new logo, and more fan Universal podcast, plus the making of King Kong: 360 3D ride effects podcast.
It’s the beginning of the new year and let start off with something non-Disney. It’s Universal news of course.  As the news go, we all know that Jaws the ride at Universal Orlando is closing at the beginning of January 2012.  But to offset this bad news, here’s some good old goodies all about Universal.

@Universal 2012
Let’s talk official Universal first. The theme park division of Universal has finally come out with an official logo. Taking a page from Disney Imagineering, Universal has got into the fun and created a logo to represent their creative theme park designers. A little history here, but when Universal would go to their theme park division, it’s department was called “MCA Planning and Development”.  Name that came from the MCA company that was Universal parent company back in the day.  But saying “MCA Planning...” doesn’t have the same ring that something like Disney Imagineering does.

@Disney 2012
So get your “make your own” T-shirts ready and get the logo pasted on the front and back.  Make your voice heard and request Universal to make and supply Universal Creative t-shirts, pens, books, etc at your Universal theme park stores.

Here something that very Season Pass like only a bit more technical. A podcast called f/xguide podcast that specialize in film effects and techniques, did a podcast about King Kong 360 3D: The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. This podcast might be more the speed for Season Pass co-host Brent Young since this is the area he mostly works in, but you do get to learn a lot about techniques and methods that make the ride work.  Like I said, it’s very Season Pass like, but a bit more jargon then Season Pass tries not to be.  The interview is with Weta Digital effects supervisor Matt Aitken and here’s the direct link to that podcast about Kong 360 3D: the ride.

@Remotely Universal
Another Universal fan podcast, but this time a sort of spin off from WDW Today. Whaa!? Yes, a Disney podcast has spun off something Universal. Yep! Now, I know that this is not first time this happens, but I glad more people is doing Universal then the tired and true Disney podcast.  This time part of the young team of WDW Today podcast has formed a new podcast about Universal Orlando called “Remotely Universal”. Comprise of former Universal Orlando employee’s and local resident's of Orlando. They give you a inside look at Universal from the team members point of view. Also, they share stories of their work experiences, and give great advice on how to approach Universal as a vacation.  Here’s a tip I didn’t know about that Remotely Universal shared. If you visit Universal Orlando during Impact wrestling, that it’s Free admission.  Yes, free to see something at Universal. You can’t be free when it comes to a theme park.  Here’s the link to Remotely Universal podcast.

Well that’s it.  I hope all this Universal goodies are enjoyed.  A podcast about Kong 360 3D: Ride, and another fan podcast for Universal Orlando and official logo that we can all make t-shirt and kiosks for sooner or later.  Happy New Year, and let’s start off our theme and amusement parks on a great note. Take care.
