Took my first ride on Ghost Galaxy today, and being a big SM fan, I was not disappointed. It is quite funny that they warn you that it is frightening for young kids. They are not lying.
I wont give any spoilers away, but I will say that the visual effects really were awesome and some caught me off guard. And one section...COMPLETELY PITCH BLACK!!!
AWESOME!!! Can't wait to do it again.

Man I wish I could get over there to ride it! I'll see if some one posted it on youtube lol.

Watching it on Youtube wont do it much justice. It is one of those "see-it-to-believe-it" things. Plus the fact that it is even darker than before doesn;t help. But the soundtrack is way CREEPY!!

Sounds awesome! I'm going to be heading down there Oct. 10th and 11th so i can't wait!

It's really that scary? that's a bummer, I was hoping to take the little guy on it next week. is it scary the whole time? or is it only after a certain hour?

Well Shannon, I can only say that it is a little more intense than your normal Space Mountain. There are a lot more visual effects of ghostly-nebula figures that are all around, and some even try to grab at you and follow you and such. And the tunnel with the blue flashing lights with completely pitch black so that might be scary. But it is nowhere near Knott's Scary Farm scary. It is just a little more intense for something from Disney. We'll find out what you wanna do. I'm gonna be there one of those days during that week and I'm gonna meet up with you guys

I heard this concept came from Hong Kong Disneyland. I sure hope our Magic Kingdom Space Mountain will get these new effect's once the redue is done. But I hear and see that our Space Mountains is only getting track and line que redones. Anyway is the intense type of theme similar to this commercial that Hong Kong Disney has promo?
It seem those guy's take Disney Halloween a little more hard core then here in the US.

Yeah.....I watched it on youtube and it's fairly creepy for a 4-year-old. I was a little unsure about it in the first place, even as regular space mountain because it can be intimidating with as dark as it is. But, with the spooky music and those weird nebula things, I think it is going to be too much. Doug and I will give it a try on Saturday and see how it is.......
I don't know......I mean, I love Halloween, and I love the candy corns and the haunted mansion and the "scary" fireworks, but I don't know how I like it truly scarily invading my Disney rides that aren't typically scary, you know? I would wish that they had one thing in the morning and then after, say 7 p.m., or whatever, switch the lights and music over to the haunted one. But that's just me.
I think it looks cool and I think I'll really like it, I'm just disappointed from a mom perspective. And, especially because Gadget's Go Coaster is closed, Casey Jr is closed and so is the Story Book boat ride......really is cutting down on some of the stuff we can do there with the boys.
Of course, regular Space Mountain is probably a little bit too intimidating for him anyway. I guess we'll see how he does on Matterhorn.....
Thanks for the heads up about the ride though, Screaminman, I guess you'll know before anyone else how the little guy does (or doesn't, LOL).

I totally understand. That was always my thoughts about it too, that they could keep it in regular format during the morning or something, but then switch it over later at night. But I'm glad that I can be of some help.
It is a bummer that all those things are closed because with your little boy, he's kinda missing out on a few of the fun things. But not to worry! It's all good
Looking forward to meeting you, Shannon, and Doug next week. I still have to say that all the Orlando episodes that you did with Doug are some of my favorites so I am excited. And you can just call me Travis
dougscoastergirl
So okay, that was only just about the coolest ride on Space Mountain ever!!!! I love how they make it a completely immersive experience from the what they do on the outside to being inside and actually on the ride!
You're right Travis, you definitely don't want to give anything away. Too cool. And No, the boy for sure should not go on that ride!! But we decided that if he really wants to go on it that we would let him. (we are scared to scar him for future SM rides!! LOL)
screaminman11
I completely agree with you Shannon. I thought it was just fantastic and I can't wait to do it again tomorrow. Don't want to scar the children either. He's just gotta know what he is getting himself into.
I'm über excited to hang with you all tomorrow. We should have a blast!
Too bad the Rod Pockets don't exist anymore LOL
