Here are the parks I've visited in the past nine months:
California's Great America
Magic Kingdom
Epcot
Disney's Animal Kingdom
Disney's Hollywood Studios
Disneyland
Disney's California Adventure
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
Six Flags Magic Mountain
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Six Flags Over Texas
Silverwood Theme Park
Six Flags Great America
Cedar Point
Kings Island (with the Season Pass!)
Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom (with the Season Pass!)
Holiday World (with the Season Pass!)
I'll be going to Universal Hollywood and back to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure in the coming months.
It seems appropriate that I visit another Six Flags park this year to make it six. It just might be Six Flags Over Georgia, the park I grew up going to.
For all of us Seinfeld fans out there, I have declared this "The Summer of Chance"
Basically I just do whatever I want.... and what I pretty much always want, is to ride coasters... Im just fortunate enough to be able to take off 3 months to do so in one summer! So far I have already spent 20 days inside an amusement park, been to 13 parks, ridden 82 different coasters taken a total of 720 coaster laps, traveled 583 miles of coaster track, and ridden 160 laps on JUST The Voyage.
I have 31 parks left, including 208 different coasters and 55 days!
Those are all part of one trip which begins the day after tomorrow. _________________ 71 Days, 43 Parks, 293 Coasters, 1 Epic Summer
I will be posting trip reports regularly via my smart phone, and I may call up the hotline from time to time and leave a message. I'll let everyone know my opinion. But be aware, I LOVE a rough ride on a wooden coaster. I actually enjoy back seat of Son of Beast. And Voyage? It simply does not get any better. _________________ 71 Days, 43 Parks, 293 Coasters, 1 Epic Summer
Heading through California's bay area in mid-July, I'm seriously considering a stop at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Mon July 13) and a brief pass at California's Great Adventure the night prior. I visited the latter way back when under Paramount ownership, but DK would be a first time. If these aren't destination parks, they still have new coasters to ride!
But really, CGA took out a flying coaster in favor of a water park? I still remember the billboards, they were out long before Tatsu opened at Magic Mountain.
Doug, aren't these your home parks? What are the standouts? Which would you skip? I hear one park may have the worst woodie ever; the other has a good one.
Finally, I need to put up a trip report. My son and I made a special trip to Disneyland for the Matterhorn's 50th birthday (great job Disney, keeping this classic going!). Two days later, we ran up to Magic Mountain to check out Terminator. Fun! Then we finished up our theme park flurry last Weds to check out Disney's new Nightastic line-up as our passes were about to peter out. Hopefull I'll get around to it this Sunday or Monday.
Great job on the recent podcasts - especially the KI riot. Keep it up!
Pal, great to hear you're headed up to NoCal! I'm not a big fan of CGA, however SFDK has improved dramatically in the last 2 years; I highly recommend that park. Your right about the woodies... CGA has Grizzly - Hands down the worst coaster ever (I'd rather ride Son of Beast 10 x's in a row)!! SFDK has Roar - A great GCI coaster! It's the first coaster to use the Millennium Flyer Trains and it's celebrating its 10th Anniversary. Other coasters not to miss: Medusa (much better than Scream in SFMM), Tony Hawk (short but sweet), V2 (a little mild for an Intamin Impulse, yet still fun), and Voodoo (a Huss Top Spin). Make sure to check out some of the animal shows; Killer Whale, Dolphins, and Sea Lion (our friend Ryan Harmon wrote the current show in use. )
Glad to hear Terminator was fun. Let me know if you need anymore info.
