Over the weekend, I visited the Orlando parks.  I had heard a few reviews of the American Idol Experience and thought I would give it a try (from the audience, not singing).

Let me first say, I have watched about half of the seasons of American Idol.  I am not watching this season, mainly for reasons of time.

We went to the 2pm Idol show.  While you are waiting outside the auditorium, they show some video clips on the TVs and have cameras, in the crowd, recording clips that you will see later in the show.  Once they open the doors, you start to walk in and get to see the set (I feel the set and the sound system are worth the seeing by themselves).   The first person you see is a warm up person, who lets you know how you are supposed to respond to the singers and the judges. After that they go into the show opening, when all the neon and chrome signs start spinning and you hear the Idol music.

Now you meet your host and judges.  Next they bring out the contestants.  In the show I saw, all three contestants were outside the age range of the actual show.  There was a 14 year old girl and 2 contestant over 40.  All three contestants put on a good show.  The first had a good voice but little showmanship.  The second had loads of showmanship but yelled most of his song.  The final contestant, and winner, was a great performer with a good voice.

In my opinion, if you are at Disney's Hollywood Studios, it is definitely worth you time to catch the show.

God!! I'm totally getting sold on this!  That is so strange... well, I guess that's the Disney magic. Laughing

For me if I'd been to Disney more I'd check it out but only been once so when I go again I won't use my time of this. I went like 9 years ago, before Rock 'n Roller Coaster.

The early show only takes about 40 min with the pre show and the main show.  If you have a day set aside for the Studios, the rest of the park doesn't take a whole day. If you are park hopping and only hitting the highlights, then you may want to skip it.

Though the show is well worth the time spent.

I've also never been too into American Idol. I wish I could have done who wants to be a millionaire though, sounded like fun!
