I know most of us are informed on what's going on with the Busch parks. Reading some of the lates news on Screamscape, I read the article linked to the site about Blackstone possibly buying the parks. Here's the link:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/.../money/2008/08/03/cnthorpe103.xml

To my understanding Blackstone is basically the Merlin Entertainment Group, am I correct? What do yall think of this?

Your Right E-Tapley.  Blackstone is planning to bid on the Busch Parks when InBev puts the For Sale signs up... which means Brent was spot on with the Merlin Take Over prediction.  Looks like the purchase can be anywhere between 2.5 billion and 4.5 billion.

We discuss The Merlin scenerio in episode 39 (which I'll post tomorrow morning).

Great I'll be looking forward to that part. If they do buy it, then I think the parks will only get better.

I think it would better if it does get sold because maybe the other company would put more attractions into this park. It doesn't a ton to do. It does have some nice roller coasters, but I would like to see even more attractions.

On the flipside of that, they don't seem to be spending every year like Six Flags is. Yet again, I say they don't have enough attractions. I guess my thing is that if a park is fully built enough, than it's okay to add attractions more frequently. Once a park gets built up "enough", than it seems quite stupid, and it doesn't help all that much to have attractions yearly.

My question is what the heck did they have at this park through the years? The newer coasters are from the 90's, and 00's. Was it a basic zoo when it started, and than they put roller coasters, some shows, and other stuff in it? I'm talking about the Africa one in Tampa.

^ That's a good question. I know the only ones they had before the 90's were Scorpion and Python. I'm not exactly sure how the park was before the 90's. I might look into that when I have some free time.

I have been going to Busch Gardens Africa since the early 80's.
Back when I first went there it was more of a very fancy zoo with some rides.  They had a monorail that took you over thier savannah.  They had Dolphin shows, bird shows and free beer.  As far as thrills, just Congo River Rapids and thier two small coasters.
It was a friendly family park used to put a good face on a beer company, and they did a good job.
Now it is a thrill park with animal and they are still doing a good job.

Just a little update.

InBev and Anheuser-Busch have now merged but they still haven't mentioned anything about the parks. Here's their new website http://www.ab-inbev.com/

Recently on screamscape, Merlin says that they are still interested in buying the parks. Here's the link to the article http://www.tampabay.com/news/business/tourism/article910021.ece
