Park News - (7/14/09) I had been hearing a few rumors about Disneyland considering the addition of a “Ghost Galaxy” make-over for Space Mountain this fall, but I wasn’t quite sure how solid a rumor this was at the time. After all the last time Disneyland tried to special version of Space Mountain (Rockit Mountain) it failed to become the new hit attraction that they had hoped it would be. So what is Ghost Galaxy you ask? Ghost Galaxy came about as a “haunted” version of Space Mountain created for Hong Kong Disneyland that premiered in the fall of 2007 when the park launched a major Halloween special event. The “haunted” version there featured a brand new soundtrack, many new projection effects and was said to be even darker inside than normal. (There are a few videos on YouTube showing it, but they are so dark you can’t see a thing!)
Brining the quiet rumors into the spotlight this week was a new post over at MiceAge who reports that Disneyland execs have signed on the dotted line to bring this exciting makover to Disneyland for the fall season, apparently opening on September 25th following a two week closure to install it. I’m not sure if they will keep the Ghost Galaxy name or use another rumored name, Nightmare Nebula. but it should be very cool to see just the same.

i think it would be awesome to see them do this every halloween like how they change the haunted mansion to nightmare before christmas _________________
(7/15/09) According to the LA Times, Disneyland has confirmed that a haunted “Ghost Galaxy” style makeover is coming to Space Mountain this fall along with a new fireworks show. You can see it running from September 25th though to at least November 1st. Speaking of new special effects... I’ve heard that Disney is running the new Fantasmic dragon through it’s paces and hopes to have it in the show before the end of the month.
that's cool. we are going in the first week of October so we'll be sure to let you know, unless someone else goes and sees it before we do! We are also planning to do the Mickey's Halloween party (i.e., cost us more $$ party) at California Adventure. I'm ridiculously excited.
That great, but I hope some of that theme will come to disney world magic kingdom. I been at space mountain closed redo site and other then open back in winter 09 or 10(no, I hope not). It's like we getting a very lite redone other then the waiting line area and new track and carts. And maybe no speakers too. I hope some of that comes our way.
