I always believe the next hot IP for theme parks will be ones coming from the video game world. It's been done in the past like Pac-Man land at Six Flags Texas which I post on the forums some time ago. While the movies about video games haven't been so hot, the business itself has been growing bigger then ever surpassing the movie and TV as the biggest entertainment of the new century. So, I wasn't surprise when Sonic the Hedgehog invades Alton Towers. News came down that Alton Towers Spinball Whizzer coaster would be re-theme to Sonic Spinball. A paint job of blue is being coated right until February when the coaster will be reopen to the Sonic the video game character own coaster. It's weird they choose Sonic the Hedgehog as the character for this coasters, mainly for the reason that most of his video games haven't sold or reviewed very well. When Sonic went 3-D or when Sega when out of the hardware biz with the Dreamcast most of his games failed to reach better game play or evolved with the hardware generation.
This isn't Sonic first time at the parks. He's been feature in Alton Towers "Toyland Tours" ride too. Check out this video.
So, what kind of ride would you like to see come from a video games. Me, I would love to see Call of Duty, Metal Gear, Mario, God of War, Resident Evil, and Doom become rides of some kind. Here's a photo of the paint job being done at Alton Towers.

I could see this coaster as a Sonic ride. Just add the golden rings and that yell Sega and it hits all all cylinder. Here's video of the coaster at work.
