I went up to San Francisco today to check out the Walt Disney Family Museum. I went into it wanting more info and stuff on Disneyland than anything else but it wasn't exactly that. I wasn't disappointed in it but the museum definitely focuses more on his career as an artist and moviemaker. They had lots of really awesome authentic props from his life including the actual multiplane camera that he used in many of his animated movies. All in all i found it very very entertaining and the entire tour is worth it for the last room (which is almost all about Disneyland). I would have taken pictures but they had a strict no camera and no cell phone use rule. _________________
Awesome man. I heard nothing but great things about Museum. To me it's sounds more about the man then his creation like the theme parks, films, or TV accomplishment, but everything Disney did. They used to be a lot of Walt Disney History exhibits at Disney World Magic Kingdom. But as time more on, it's been getting less and less a full experiences. But we do still have one called "Walt a man and his dreams" at (MG oh no) Hollywood Studios that really good. Hey is there any type of attraction about Walt Disney at Disneyland, CA? Anyway cool to hear about the museum, I saw a little on the news about it like this one.
I hear that a lot of Disney legends come to the museum that turns into a event. I know that Disney legend Bob Gurr made a visit not to long ago.
Hey is it true that at the end of one of Walt Disney movies at the museum that Walt's daughter say's that his "head isn't frozen". That something I heard from another Disney podcast. _________________
I went through the museum in about 3 hours and felt i got to read and look at everything that i wanted to.
There was a fair amount of people there. I wouldn't call it a small amount of people but it didn't feel over-crowded at all.
The ticket for an adult is 20 dollars but i got in for child's price (age 6-17) at 12 dollars. And children under 6 get in free. _________________
It was very interactive. Couple of sections with little games on touch screens about matching soundtracks to movies and other things like that. The main highlight (for me at least) was the last room which had in it, the very first prototype model of Disneyland that Walt built. To me that was very cool to see in person the Disneyland that Walt first imagined. Another very cool thing they had was, the actual multi-plane camera that Walt designed. That thing was huge!
