H Fellas,
I just read the following item at Screamscape (http://screamscape.com/html/universal_studios_singapore.htm):
"As for Madagascar… the story gets a little weird. According to our source, some kind of fire may have broke out inside the attraction, causing some extensive damage to some of the scenes. If that wasn’t bad enough… it seems the entire ride system is a big steaming pile. The flume system is plagued with technical problems, and I’ve even heard it said that the lifts and chutes for the flume may possibly be removed entirely before they’re done. Anyone know just who built the ride system for this attraction?"
I recall Brent saying he was responsible for the Animatronics and projections? I'm sorry if I've got that wrong, and I know you can't go into serious detail, but can you provide us whatever scoop/insight that you can - in the interests of setting the record straight?
Thanks and keep up the amazing work - both with Super78 and the podcast. You guys are the best!
Hey Gryffud, great to hear from you. I know Brent can't speak on the subject, so he won't answer this post. My personal view on the situation is that it's been taking a long time to complete this ride and I'm just hoping that whatever cyclical problems they've been having for the past year in development will get resolved soon. The guests of Singapore must be frustrated and this is too big of a ride to have sitting in front of guests without use. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for (not an answer at all really) , but I can only give you my thoughts on the delay.

Thanks Doug!
It didn't occur to me that Brent wouldn't be able to say anything at all, but I guess that makes sense; and we certainly wouldn't want him to get in any trouble.
Here's hoping one day, after the ride is open and running smoothly, the story will be told on the podcast.
Unforntunately this is the plague of engineers everywhere...
If you push techical boundaries, stuff will explode. Seriously. It's like a simpsons cartoon at times.
Your thinking NO WAY the combination of a toilet paper roll, some paper paste, candle wax, a toothpick and some loose jello will ever explode!
20 minutes later your explaining to the wife how the burn marks will add to the decorum of her new dinning room table.
Outlandish, perhaps, but never the less it amazes me how easy it is for technology to fall apart. One bolt or data line overlooked and the whole thing shuts down. There is a reason we all go to school for so long to do this stuff. Days like that I really hate my job.... mom was right, I should have been a doctor... ahahah

Yes, but isn't problem solving those "oh ****" moments more fun than seeing it work perfectly the first time? When I'm at a sound console and nothing is working while the talent is on and I have seconds to fix it; that's the most stress and most fun I ever have (except at a theme park, then I just giggle). _________________ Respect every park.
